NGO “Cameria”: It is not true what Omonia claims about burned greek flags.

It seems that latest remarks made by Greek army members have sparked a new wave of problems in the already troubled region. Yesterday the non-governmental organization “OMONIA” which represents the Greek minority living in Albania claimed through a press release that” Greek flags burned as revenge to the March 25th racist remarks by some greek soldiers”. Within 24 hours the reaction by “CAMERIA”, another NGO operating in Albania representing the interests of Albanians who were forced to leave Greece and migrate to Albania, comes at no surprise. Through a press release they deny any action where Greek flags were burned or misused calling the OMONIA actions as diversion of real problem, greek extreme nationalism. Topi to Ivanov: Racist remarks made by Greek Army members are isolated incidents.

TIRANA – “The Albanian President Prof.Dr. Bamir Topi and its homologue Mr. George Ivanov had a phone conversation in regard to the latest incident, March 25th, where members of Greek Army made racist remarks to its neighbors: Albanians, Macedonian and Turks” says a press release issued today by the Presidential Press Office.
